I'm 'celebrating' July 4th by watching QI, watching Louis Theroux's 'America's Most Hated Family' and then going to work to say 'happy independance day' to all of the over patriotic Americans who have so far asked me:
Are you from the Ukraine?
Are you Russian?
What language do you speak in England? English? Wow. So how do you say 'how are you'?
Are you Austrailian?
What is the UK? Oh so it's N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England. What about London?
Hmm.

That's astonishing! How do you respond?
ReplyDeleteI try not to laugh at their stupidity. But the whole 'what language do you speak in England?' question was unbearable and I gave a teeny weeny giggle. I try my best to be serious and tell them about England, that it's a country where the majority speak English. Wha blow, innit?
